empathie is a startup project created at UC Berkeley. I worked alongside a small but diverse team of Masters of Design students, MBAs, and engineers to build a mental health platform for underrepresented minorities from ground up. empathie was selected to present at the SCET Collider Cup and won the Microsoft Hack for Mental Health Award. Building a startup from ground up includes developing icons, design system, interactions, and branding along with balancing usability, functionality, and improving/building on the concept with multiple design iterations prior to building higher fidelity designs.

Team members: Jennifer Wong, Kevin Hu, Lisa Wang, Taylor Speed

empathie is a mental health social learning app that is an accessible form of therapy for racial minorities, aiming to teach them how to understand and overcome their mental health issues by providing them tools and techniques tailored to their unique experiences and cultural backgrounds. empathie complements traditional therapy approaches with a social learning community that allows participants to learn at their own pace.
